In this hour of Corona crisis, the railway is transporting goods to the people as a lifeline. The entire staff of the railway is engaged with full dedication in bringing the goods of daily life to the people.
In the lockdown, the government suspended train services, but the railways operated parcel special trains, providing convenient and alternative goods transportation to small traders, voluntary organizations.
About 112 parcel trains are running on 58 rail routes of the country, while more than 32 parcel trains are operating. So far, 2 tonnes of medicine and medical equipment have been transported.
Railways continue to cooperate in the war against Kovid-19. Keeping in mind the widespread health interests of the common people, the government has imposed a lockdown across the country till 3 May.
In such a situation, the Indian Railways is running about 112 parcel special trains on 58 rail routes of the country for the convenience of the small traders, so that the common people do not have shortage of essential commodities.
The special thing among all of these is that these trains are being operated by setting the schedule on the lines of passenger trains. Parcel trains are working to their full potential in transporting low volume goods to other important stations of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru.
Due to this, all the items of need are being provided to the common people during lockdown. Since the start of the lockdown, 2 tonnes of essential medicines and medical equipment were transported by the Railways from these special parcel trains. In view of the convenience of the common people, these facilities of the railway have continued till the end of the lockdown.
Indian Railways has acted like Sanjeevani in the middle of the Corona crisis, which no Indian can forget. Indian Railways, while utilizing its full potential, helped all the states and also played its main role in making our poor laborers reach home.
